The red cup has become synonymous with a party. This was popularized in the 70's by the Solo Cup Company . since that time it has become a staple at any type of informal social event. Barbeques, picnics, tailgates, camping, or any event imaginable could use the red cup.
But with this ubiquitous nature of the cup also came problems. Because the cup was identical to everyone else's cup, there was the possibility of mix-up of drinks. Marking party cups became important. Once the drink was mixed-up, the person would have 2 options. Get another drink or guess which was their drink and go on. Either case had problems with the decision. In the first case, there was waste. Not only of the cup but of the beverage that was poured. In the second cases, one might get germs form the person whose drink that was and wrongfully selected.
So what was the solution? Well if one had a Sharpie marker, they could mark their cup. This is a good method as long as the marker doesn't get lost. Once lost, all bets are off and it is once again drink roulette. There are even red cup holders which will have a place for that marker.
But what if the marker gets lost? What does one do? How do I mark the cup? How do I make sure I'm not drinking out of another persons cup. Well ID Spot to the rescue? ID Spot is a sticker that can be marked without a pen or sharpie marker. Just the pressure of your fingernail is enough to create a unique mark on this sticker. then just peal and apply to your cup. Voila! your drink is marked for the rest of the night. And guess what! You will never lose your fingernail!!!
